Ashley Wilburn is a native of Hagerstown in Maryland. She graduated from North Hagerstown High School where she received her secondary education. With a passion for family law, Ashley's current legal practice is centered around a variety of aspects of family-related matters. She concentrates the majority of her practice in divorce cases, alimony disputes, marital property distribution child custody battles child support arrangements, postnuptial and prenuptial agreements, post-divorce enforcement issues including step-parent and private parties adoptions and child welfare concerns. Ashley has served as a mediator appointed by the court since 2019, assisting parties in helping them resolve their matters without need for litigation and court involvement. Ashley mediates private disputes as well as court-appointed mediation for individuals who want to avoid court processes and litigation.
Ashley completed her undergraduate studies in History and Politics at Loyola University of Maryland. Then, she pursued her legal education at Western New England University School of Law. She graduated in 2013 and was placed among the top 10 students of her class. Ashley was an Editor of the Notes at the Western New England Law Review during her time in law school. This demonstrated her commitment to scholarship and legal research.
Ashley began her clerkship after completing her law degree. She worked for renowned jurists from Connecticut and Maryland. She had the honor of being a law assistant for the Honorable Richard A. Robinson and the Honorable Elliott D. Prescott at the Connecticut Appellate Court. In 2014, she returned to Hagerstown Maryland to work as a law clerk for the Honorable M. Ashley joined Poole & Kane P.A. in 2015 as an associate attorney. as an associate attorney. Her primary role in the firm was to represent the Washington County Department of Social Services on cases which involved child welfare. Ashley's dedicated efforts played a crucial role in helping children who were victims of neglect or abuse at of their caregivers or parents. Her commitment to social justice spanned far beyond the realm of law since she was actively an executive member of the Washington County Human Trafficking Task Force, working diligently to increase awareness of human trafficking in the tri-state region.
In 2017 she was a founding member of Kane, Wilburn & Stone, P.A., and established her practice in family law - custody, divorce and child maintenance as well as guardianships – as well as estate and financial planning – wills, trusts and powers of attorney, advance directives/healthcare proxies – and mediation.
Ashley created Wilburn Law Office, LLC in 2023. The company was founded with the intention of providing a personalized approach to every client's requirements.
